Shopping for home insurance is a ’sensible option’
Landlords and tenants may wish to switch their home insurance providers to save money, it has been advised.
External affairs director for Equifax Neil Munroe said that this is a sensible option, rather than cutting out cover completely.
“Insurance is very important, but obviously it is difficult for people to realise this until they come to make a claim. If they struggle with the premium, then they should shop around for a cheaper premium,” said Mr Munroe.
His advice follows findings from The Nottingham Building Society published yesterday (January 20th) that one in four households do not have any home and contents insurance.
Some 22 per cent of Britons cancelled home contents insurance last year in a bid to save money, it was revealed.
Mr Munroe explained that those who shop around must also make sure that they have the right level of cover in any new policy. Benefits to certain policies may come in handy in the future, he noted.
