Government steals life

How the Government has stolen your life….and yes, I am serious.

Our congress, acting in our name has created a situation that means every man, woman and child now living and yet to be born for as long as anyone can see owes more money than they can pay and still live.

We have had big spenders before, but this administration has introduced or supported more spending than previous administrations combined.

Our latest gift that we are paying for, Health Care Reform. This bill is so flawed I cannot begin to recite all the problems, but here are a few highlights:

Limiting the types of coverage private companies can offer.

Taxing anyone or their company that has a better plan than “average” .

Forcing individuals to purchase Health Insurance. This one deserves a quick comment.

It has been likened to the state’s requirement for Auto Insurance. It is NOT the same. Auto Insurance is coupled to the privilege of owning and operating a motor vehicle on public roads, placing others in danger in the event of an accident or improper driving.

Requiring Health Insurance is demanding a person assure Hospitals and Doctors of payment. In essence, requiring that you pay simply to live and breathe.

The first instance is totally voluntary, the second is not. I may choose to own a vehicle or drive. Living is not entirely a matter of choice.

Failure to address tort reform.

Assuming a reduction in costs when such reductions are entirely unpredictable, given the diverse nature of the system.

These are but a few of the problems with the purposes of the bill. Getting passage required more horse trading and buy offs than we should stomach. Several Senators have asked that their state be exempted from parts of this bill. If it is so great, why would they want that to be the case?

From a North Carolina point of view, Senator Hagan, instead of looking out for the taxpayer, has followed a party line and betrayed the trust of her constituents. Is this the bill we really want and need? Is this the way we the taxpayers want our Senator to vote?

I have spoken to a number of people in Eastern NC . So far, sentiment against is roughly 2 to 1. An unscientific poll, but an indication, at least.

We have a duty to make our opinion known to our Senators and Representatives. If we do not do so, we are as guilty of enslaving our children as our elected representatives. I say that to both sides. If you really like this bill (please read it first) let that opinion be known. If you feel as I do that this bill is flawed and that they can do better, let your Representative and Senators know.
